PG & RESEARCH DEPARTMENT OF FOODS & NUTRITION MAY- 2024

1. The Department carried out UG & PG admissions process during this month. 2. Our Department PG & Research Department of Foods & Nutrition as successfully conducted first Board of Studies meeting in view of the autonomous status of the college on 06.05.2024. 3. The students of all the classes completed their even semester exams for the academic year 2023 - 2024 during this month. 4. The students of II B.Sc Nutrition FSM & Dietetics are in the process of heading for their internship training for their upcoming academic year 2024 – 2025.

April’s Seasonal Fruits The months of April are a reminder of the abundance that nature offers, and each fruit albeit having different, very unique tastes, those fruits exhibit very unique benefits. Here's a glimpse of what this month has in store:Here's a glimpse of what this month has in store: Mangoes: Carrying off the tag of ‘ the king of fruits’ , mangoes debut in to the world scene with a sweet nectar like juice wettting their velvety texture that does hypnotize. They are dense with vitamins A and C, which is a key immunesystem function. Whether you eat them raw or cooked, you are getting a great source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Apples: The coolness of the April apples, soldiers of resonsibility to the end, is the very breath of winter again taken in and inhaled by the spring. Strawberries and kiwis are rich in fiber and vitamin C that play a strategic role of guarding the integrity of our digestive system and health respectively. Avocados: It is just mind-blowing to know how unique avocados are: the creamy and rich interior is the show of nature’s power of creation that offers us monounsaturated fats with an outstanding amount of potassium, fiber, and vitamins C, E, and K. Grapes: The grapes traditional role of vintners' inspiration is not the only one grapes provide. Healthier than plain water, they are full of antioxidants including resveratol, to help maintain heart health.

PG& RESEARCH DEPARTMENT OF FOODS & NUTRITION - FEBRUARY 2024

The PG and Research Department of Foods and Nutrition have organized two days educational tour to Mysore Milk Union Ltd and Bangalore Wonderla, Karnataka for the students of II B.Sc, III B.Sc Nutrition, FSM and Dietetics and I M.Sc and II M.Sc Foods and Nutriton from 12.02.2024 to 13.02.2024. A total of 51 students and 3 faculty were part of this educational tour.

• Our Department faculty Ms.S.Monisha attended five day Faculty Development Programme on Naan Mudhalvan in the topic of Food analysis conducted by Thiruvalluvar University Vellore. • Ms. R.Mahalakshmi Head Department of Foods & Nutrition went as a Resource Person on 23.01.2024 at Mandalvadi and Kunathoor, as well as created awareness on the basics of nutritious foods among students and village members . • Our faculty Ms. Pragathi. N Assistant Professor organized NSS camp during 22.01.2024 to 27.01.2024 at Mandalvadi and Kunathoor. • Ms. R.Mahalakshmi Head Department of Foods & Nutrition went as a Resource Person on 30.01.2024 at Sacred Heart College(Autonomous),Tirupattur District. Student Achievements : • Our UG students Ms.Libina Cristy of II B.Sc., Nutrition FSM & Dietetics and Ms., Shalini A of II M.Sc., Foods & Nutrition has participated in Nehru Yuva Kendra, Vellore District level English speech competition at Marudhar Kesari Jain College For Women , Vaniyambadi on (06.02.2024) • Our students have attended NSS camp duration of one week (22.01.2024 to 27.01.2024) at Mandalvadi and Kunathoor.

• The Department of Foods and Nutrition in association with the Department of Tamil and Commerce CA celebrated Navaratri Golu on 18.10.2023 at auditorium • Ms. Inika K of II B.Sc NFSMD published a paper titled ‘Chatbots and Virtual assistants in HR service delivery and Ms. Libina Cristy S of II B.Sc NFSMD was awarded the Best Paper presenter for her presentation on ‘Professional Career and Development’ at the National Seminar on ‘Preparing the HR for the Future AI Driven Skills Development And Training Initiatives’, organized by the Department of Management Studies of Marudhar Kesari Jain College for Women, Vaniyambadi on 19.10.2023 and 20.10.2023. • Naan Mudhalvan course on ‘International Regulatory Requirement in Clinical Trial and Data Management’ was conducted from 19.10.2023 – 20.10.2023 for the students of III B.Sc NFSMD. The resource person was Mr. V. Ramnath, Trainer, Naan Mudhalvan from Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore. • Ms. R.Mahalakshmi, Head, Department of Foods and Nutrition has been appointed as District level CM breakfast scheme committee officer for monitoring the hygiene aspects of breakfast provided at Government Schools in and around Tirupattur district and attended meeting in this regard at Tirupattur Collector Office on 16.10.2023.
